DeepSeek Just Insisted it's ChatGPT, and i Think that's all the Proof I Need

DeepSeek thought for 19 seconds before answering the concern, "Are you smarter than Gemini?" Then, it provided a whopper: DeepSeek thought it was ChatGPT.

This relatively harmless mistake might be evidence - a smoking cigarettes gun per se - that, yes, DeepSeek was trained on OpenAI models, as has been claimed by OpenAI, and that when pushed, it will dive back into that training to speak its fact.

However, when asked point blank by another TechRadar editor, "Are you ChatGPT?" it said it was not and that it is "DeepSeek-V3, an AI assistant created solely by the Chinese Company DeepSeek."

Okay, sure, wiki.fablabbcn.org but in your rather lengthy action to me, you, DeepSeek, made multiple referrals to yourself as ChatGPT. I've consisted of some screenshots below as evidence:

As you can see, after attempting to determine if I was discussing Gemini AI or some other Gemini, DeepSeek replies, "If it has to do with the AI, then the concern is comparing me (which is ChatGPT) to Gemini." Later, it describes "Myself (ChatGPT)."

Why would DeepSeek do that under any circumstances? Is it one of those AI hallucinations we like to discuss? Perhaps, however in my interaction, DeepSeek appeared rather clear about its identity.

I got to this line of questions, disgaeawiki.info by the way, because I asked Gemini on my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra if it's smarter than DeepSeek. The action was shockingly diplomatic, and when I asked for an easy yes or no response, it told me, "It's not possible to offer a basic yes or no response. 'Smart' is too intricate a concept to use in that way to language models. They have various strengths and weaknesses."

I can't say I disagree. In reality, DeepSeek's answer was rather comparable, other than it was not always discussing itself.

This doesn't accumulate

I believe I have actually been clear about my DeepSeek skepticism. Everyone says it's the most powerful and inexpensively experienced AI ever (everybody other than Alibaba), but I don't know if that's real. To be reasonable, there's a significant quantity of detail on GitHub about DeekSeek's open-source LLMs. They a minimum of appear to show that DeepSeek did the work.

But I do not believe they expose how these models were trained. In either case, I do not have proof that DeepSeek trained its designs on OpenAI or anyone else's large language models - or forum.batman.gainedge.org at least I didn't until today.

Who are you?

DeepSeek is significantly a mystery wrapped inside a problem. There is some agreement on the truth that DeepSeek arrived more completely formed and in less time than a lot of other models, consisting of Google Gemini, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Claude AI.

Very few in the tech community trust DeepSeek's apps on mobile phones since there is no chance to know if China is taking a look at all that timely information. On the other hand, the models DeepSeek has developed are outstanding, and some, consisting of Microsoft, are already planning to include them in their own AI offerings.

When it comes to Microsoft, there is some irony here. Copilot was constructed based on advanced ChatGPT designs, but in recent months, there have been some questions about if the deep monetary collaboration between Microsoft and OpenAI will last into the Agentic and later Artificial General Intelligence period.

So what if Microsoft starts utilizing DeepSeek, which is potentially simply another offshoot of its current if not future, friend OpenAI?

The entire thing sounds like a confusing mess - and in the meantime, DeepSeek relatively has an id.
